Xanax/Bar Pills

Xanax bars are pill-sized shaped tablets and are the most preferred way of taking medication. Xanax bars, also known as “zanies” and “planks”. Each bar contains 2-milligrams per dose, and if you broke it, it can become half which means 2 milligrams can become 1 milligram and other smaller doses include 0.5 milligrams and 0.25 milligrams.

How to use Xanax Bars?

Xanax must be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. You can also take precaution by checking the label of the medicine.

• Take the extended-release tablet at once. 
• Do not crush, chew or break it. 
• Do not swallow the orally disintegrating tablet whole. 
• The tablet will be easily dissolved in your mouth without the need to chew it.
• The tablet is usually taken for about 4 months and not longer than it to treat anxiety disorder.
• You may take the pills for longer than 10 weeks if you want to treat panic disorder.

What are Xanax bars precautions?

Here are some Xanax bar precautions you must take based on where you belong:

• Teenagers- Xanax is used popularly among teenagers to cope up with their daily life problems such as stress, depression, and anxieties. But if they may take overdose or mix it with alcohol then it can be dangerous to their life.
• Expectant mothers – Pregnant women must avoid taking the medication as it can lead to fetal development problems in an unborn baby. Often, the doctor may prescribe a benzodiazepine to relax them.
• College Students – Xanax or Benzodiazepines excess intake can be used by college students as an alternative to drugs and can be most dangerously powerful opioids such as fentanyl or carfentanil.  
• Senior Citizens- Senior citizen are also under the risk of Xanax side effects if they misuse the medication. They may suffer from defective hips, vehicular collisions, falls, Xanax habit, and fatal overdoses.

Other medications can affect the removal of alprazolam from your body, which may affect how alprazolam works. Examples include azole antifungals (such as itraconazole, ketoconazole), cimetidine, certain anti-depressants (such as fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, nefazodone), drugs to treat HIV (delavirdine, protease inhibitors such as indinavir), macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin), rifamycins (such as rifabutin), St. John’s wort, drugs used to treat seizures (such as phenytoin), among others.

The risk of serious side effects (such as slow/shallow breathing, severe drowsiness/dizziness) may be increased if this medication is taken with other products that may also cause drowsiness or breathing problems. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other products such as opioid pain or cough relievers (such as codeine, hydrocodone), alcohol, marijuana (cannabis), other drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as diazepam, lorazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants (such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), or antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine).

Check the labels on all your medicines (such as allergy or cough-and-cold products) because they may contain ingredients that cause drowsiness. Ask your pharmacist about using those products safely.

Cigarette smoking decreases blood levels of this medication. Tell your doctor if you smoke or if you have recently stopped smoking.
